Art de Vivre at CCNY26

From September 26 to 28, New York’s The Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion hosted COVER CONNECT NEW YORK 2026, the annual trade show for high-end rug brands organised by COVER magazine.

This year, Art de Vivre presented four limited-edition rugs from its signature collections. Working with artists, the Atelier turns their ideas into one-of-a-kind rugs for museum, gallery and private collections. The artist’s vision takes shape through scale, texture, color, technique and construction, finding its own way of expression in material.

FLORALIS CALADIUM (limited edition: 15 + 2 AP) from the FLORALIS COLLECTION BY ESTÚDIO CAMPANA

Floralis Caladium translates Humberto Campana’s graphic language into a bodily scale of experience. Its biomorphic form and open geometry intensify the sense of a living structure: across a black wool ground, purple, orange, and blue veins pulse, conveying rhythms of division, growth, and inner cellular tension. Handwoven by artisans in India, the rug captures a moment where the organic becomes image, and energy takes form as pattern.

PERSPECTIVE / OPTION-2 (limited edition: 12 + 2 AP) from the MODERN HISTORY COLLECTION BY PIERRE GONALONS

Perspective / Option-2 constructs a composition in the form of a French cross, with the central oval plafond acting as the visual focal point. Intersecting axes establish rhythm and a clear structure, creating a sense of depth. As part of the triptych Sky over Paris, it captures a daytime atmosphere: a soft gradation of blue and grey tones corresponds to the sun at its zenith, aligned with the compositional core. Its surface reads as a relief, with carving emphasizing the geometry and enhancing the light. Handwoven from silk and wool, the rug gathers the space into a cohesive whole.

SYMBOL BY SEM LAVDANSKY (limited edition: 3 + 1 AP)

Designed by Sem Lavdansky, the Symbol rug investigates the transition of sacred iconography into the realm of everyday objects. Its silhouette, derived from archaic architectural symbols, evokes a cross without literal repetition: the icon dissolves into a graphic sign, retaining only a subtle echo of its origin.

SWAN-GEESE (limited edition: 12 + 1 AP) from the SKAZKI COLLECTION

In the tale of Swan-Geese, the birds embody the forces of fate and transformation, carrying the narrative between the familiar and the miraculous. In this carpet, their elongated silhouettes and stylised flora form a rhythmic composition, where the decorative language of folk imagery is refined through a deep green ground and a nuanced palette of terracotta, red, and ochre. The interplay of alpaca and silk lends the surface a subtle depth, balancing the softness of the material with the delicate lustre of the fibre.
