If you’re seeking an interior design that embodies the current trend of “quiet luxury,” look no further than the projects of Leyla Ulukhanli. Her signature style is often characterized by a monochrome color palette, but don’t be fooled - her designs are anything but simple. Leyla skillfully incorporates Art Deco elements and 70s style references into her interiors, creating a unique blend of antiques, vintage pieces, and her own custom furniture designs. In essence, she has a knack for evoking a Parisian chic vibe, no matter how far away the apartment is from France.

Take, for instance, her recent project - an apartment designed for a family with two children. Leyla used exquisite stucco molding under the ceiling and wooden panel cladding on the living room walls to complement the sleek facades of the minimalist kitchen, visible through a wide doorway. The apartment’s private and public areas are elegantly separated by an oval hall with mirrored inserts, making the most of the apartment’s spacious layout. The grandly planned and decorated passage areas add an intangible sense of breadth and depth to the interior.

At first glance, the apartment appears almost monochromatic, but upon closer inspection, you’ll find a nuanced palette of many shades - from ivory to light grey, and even a touch of pink (which predictably pops up in one of the nurseries). Coupled with a variety of textures, this creates a complex interior cocktail that offers a rich array of visual and tactile experiences for the apartment owners.

What we particularly enjoy is how Leyla mixes details from various styles. For example, the dining group, composed of French vintage pieces, is nestled into a modern shag rug. This feature not only adds undeniable luxury to the interior but also makes it cozy and lively. At Art de Vivre, we’re big fans of these kinds of combinations.
